Vocal Music #7145
This is a performance course and is open to sophomores, juniors and seniors. Students are taught 4-part (T.T.B.B.) male choral repertoire and mixed-voice (S.A.T.B.) choral repertoire dating back several centuries. From early chant to Bach (17th century) to present day popular music, students are exposed to a variety of musical and singing styles in preparation for Christmas and spring concert performances at two nearby all-girl Catholic high schools. This combined Multi-Choir also performs at Fordham Prep and on the Fordham University Campus. These various events may sometimes qualify for service hours. Participation in the Fordham Prep School liturgies is also encouraged. Students also learn basic music theory and valuable sight-singing skills. Once or twice in the year, a seasoned professional singer comes to the class for vocal coaching pertaining to breath control and vocal range fused with real-life musical experiences.

Congrats
to the young men of
the Fordham Prep
Concert Choir who,
along with the young
ladies from Aquinas
HS and St.
Catharines Academy,
have put on
outstanding
performances both here
in the Bronx and in
Queens. These
performances included
our own wonderful
Spring Fine Arts
Concert,
followed two days
later by a bus trip to
Archbishop Molloy HS
in Queens to join with
their 40+-voice choir
for their Spring
Concert.
The Friday of that
week culminated in the
final official concert
at St. Catharines
Academy in the full
performance of our
"With A Voice Of
Singing" Spring
Program.
Our last event was
a wonderfully-received
three-hour long
Cabaret held Thursday,
May 9th in City
Island. The
audience members were
so enthralled with
our group that they
raised $100. for the
group and are trying
to find a ways to send
our singers to see the
Broadway musical,
"Hamilton".
